What Is Chiron?

Astronomers file it as a centaur: part comet, part minor planet, discovered in 1977 on an unstable 50.4-year orbit that crosses Saturn’s. One lap takes about 50.4 years, so the return comes once: the body stands on its birth degree again around age fifty. Astrologers read it as the wound’s graduation — the years when the old tender spot asks to be met as a teacher rather than managed as a secret.
