What Is a Soulmate Timing Window?
A soulmate timing window is a month when the classic love-timing indicators in your own birth chart line up: two independent ones at once, or one major one on its own, such as Jupiter reaching your Venus or Saturn reaching your Descendant.
A one-sentence definition
“When will I meet my soulmate?” is one of the most asked questions in astrology, and most answers online are quizzes, sun-sign lists or tarot spreads. None of them reads your chart. This soulmate timing calculator does, and it shows its working.
Astrology has no single soulmate indicator, and no chart names a person. It has a set of well-known love timing signals, and a soulmate window is a month where several of them agree.
Why months, not dates
Every contact is calculated to the minute, but a transit is a season, not an appointment. Across 600 charts, one pass of Jupiter stays within 1° of its target for a median of 12.6 days, and one contact of the progressed Moon for 56 days.
So soulmate timing here is reported in months. A precise date would look more impressive and mean less: the quizzes that promise one cannot say where it came from.
Meeting windows and commitment windows
Astrologers separate the signals for starting something from the signals for making it last. Some read Jupiter or Saturn reaching the ruler of the 5th house as romance-friendly, and the ruler of the 7th house as commitment-friendly. This calculator follows that split with Jupiter for romance, and Jupiter and Saturn for commitment.
Meeting
Jupiter on your Venus or Descendant, an eclipse on those points, the progressed Moon arriving there and Uranus on Venus: the months astrologers associate with new people and new attraction.
Commitment
Saturn on your Descendant, Venus or 7th-house ruler, and Jupiter on that ruler: months for defining, deepening or deciding.
Both at once
Across 600 charts, 42.1% of soulmate windows lean towards meeting, 46.4% towards commitment and 11.5% carry both.
What a window cannot tell you
A soulmate window cannot tell you who, where or whether. It marks the months when your chart’s signals for love are loudest: a reason to be more open and more deliberate then, not a forecast.
How to Use the Soulmate Timing Calculator
Five steps take you from a birth date to three years of love timing. Nothing is stored and there is no account to make.
Step 1: Enter your birth date, time and place
Add your birth date, place and time. If you don’t know the time, switch on “I don’t know the time”: the contacts to your Venus are still read, and the page lists what is left out.
Step 2: Read your next window
The card at the top shows the months of your next window, how strong it is, whether it leans towards meeting someone or towards commitment, and the transits behind it.
In the example above, Jamie was born on 14 July 1989 at 13:55 in London, with Venus at Leo 18°30′ and the Descendant at Aries 25°19′. Read on 18 October 2026, the next soulmate window runs from March to June 2027 and is a strong one: Jupiter crosses Venus on 12 March and 14 May, the progressed Moon reaches the Descendant on 22 April, and Saturn reaches it on 14 June.
Step 3: Scan the 36-month ribbon
Each month is a column: meeting above the line, commitment below it. Lit months are windows; eclipses, Venus retrograde and your 5th- and 7th-house profection years are marked along it.
Step 4: Open a window to see the transits behind it
Every contact is listed with the date it is exact, which pass it is, the days it stays within 1°, a reading and one thing to try.
Step 5: Look back twelve months
The grey months show the past year. Compare the windows there with what actually happened before deciding how much weight to give the ones ahead.
Jamie’s past year has one window, September 2026, when Jupiter first crossed that Venus; a month earlier the total solar eclipse of 12 August 2026 fell 1.55° from it.
Jupiter: The Classic Soulmate Timing Signal
Jupiter takes about twelve years to go round the zodiac, so it returns to every point of your chart once a cycle. It is the planet most soulmate timing articles mention, and with reason: its contacts are frequent enough to be useful and slow enough to read.
Jupiter on your Venus
Jupiter reaching Venus is the contact astrologers most often connect with falling for someone. In the next 36 months, every one of the 600 charts sampled has Jupiter make at least one major aspect to Venus.
Conjunction
The strongest form, weighted 5, enough to make a soulmate window on its own. It comes once every twelve years or so, often in three passes.
Trine and sextile
Lighter versions, weighted 3, that need a second signal to make a window.
Square and opposition
Read as plenty of interest with a risk of overdoing it, and weighted 2.
Jupiter at your Descendant and in your 5th house
The Descendant is the cusp of the 7th house, the house of partners, and Cafe Astrology calls Jupiter’s year there “very conducive to partnering”. In the next three years, 13.0% of charts have Jupiter reach the Descendant and 15.5% have it enter the 5th house of romance.
A forum answer puts the limit bluntly: “Jupiter transiting 7th house alone won’t trigger partnerships.” The calculator counts the crossing, not the whole year. Your Descendant is on the Descendant calculator.
Jupiter and the rulers of your 5th and 7th houses
Every house is ruled by the planet of the sign on its cusp, and this calculator uses the traditional rulers (Mars for Scorpio, Saturn for Aquarius, Jupiter for Pisces).
Romance: the 5th-house ruler
Jupiter’s conjunction, trine or sextile to it is read as a romance-friendly stretch. 71.5% of charts have one in the next 36 months, which is why it never makes a window alone.
Commitment: the 7th-house ruler
The same contacts to the 7th-house ruler are read as commitment-friendly; 75.0% of charts have one. When Venus rules the 7th house, for a Taurus or Libra Descendant, it is read once, as Venus.
How long a Jupiter contact lasts
One pass stays within 1° for a median of 12.6 days (47.6 at the 90th percentile). 65.5% of Jupiter contacts are a single pass and 33.1% come in three. The Jupiter return page dates the same twelve-year cycle.
Saturn: The Commitment Side of Love Timing
Saturn takes about 29 years to go round, so its contacts are rare and long. In love timing it marks commitment more than meeting.
Saturn on your Descendant
Saturn crossing the Descendant is the classic signal for committing or recommitting; Cafe Astrology describes its passage through the 7th house as pressure to make a commitment. 16.7% of charts meet it in the next three years, and the commitment can be marriage, exclusivity or the decision to stop waiting.
Saturn and your 7th-house ruler
Saturn’s conjunction, trine or sextile to the 7th-house ruler is the most common Saturn signal: 60.8% of charts have one within 36 months.
Saturn on your Venus: commitment or test
Conjunction
Read as love turning serious, it counts towards a commitment window. 15.0% of charts meet it in the next three years.
Square and opposition
Read as a test rather than a soulmate window: loneliness can feel sharper and weak spots show. 40.8% of charts have one; these months are listed but never scored.
How long a Saturn contact lasts
One Saturn pass stays within 1° for a median of 21.7 days, and 33.5% of its contacts come in three passes over most of a year. Each pass is dated, so a commitment window can return two or three times.
Eclipses, Uranus and the Progressed Moon
Three rarer signals complete the soulmate timing picture, and they stand out because they are rare.
Eclipses on your Venus or your angles
Traditional astrology treats an eclipse on a personal point as a turning point that unfolds over the following months. On Venus or the Ascendant–Descendant axis, it is a classic signal for a relationship starting, ending or changing shape.
Why 3°
The traditional rule, from Ptolemy to Lilly, counts an eclipse “within 1° of a conjunction or opposition”; some astrologers, such as Bernadette Brady, read 2–3°. With 3°, 38.2% of charts have an eclipse on Venus in the next three years and 41.2% one on the Ascendant or Descendant.
The eclipses of the next three years
From October 2026 to September 2029 there are 14 eclipses, the first on 6 February 2027 at Aquarius 17.6°; none falls between October 2026 and January 2027. The eclipse calculator shows the house each one lands in.
Uranus: sudden starts
Uranus on Venus or the Descendant is read as surprise: someone unexpected, an unusual meeting, an attraction you did not see coming. 28.5% of charts have one of these contacts in the next 36 months.
Why to wait before committing
Cafe Astrology describes meeting “under very unusual circumstances” and “love at first sight”, and adds: “Wait until this transit passes before making any long-term commitments to a new love.” Every Uranus soulmate window here carries that note.
The progressed Moon reaching your 5th or 7th house
In secondary progressions one day after birth stands for one year of life, so the progressed Moon moves about a degree a month. Its arrival at the Descendant (12.2% of charts in the next three years), at Venus (10.7%) or at the 5th house (10.5%) marks an inner season for love.
Kerykeion’s guide names entering or deepening a committed relationship as a common correlation of the progressed Moon in the 7th house, and adds: “These are not predictions of specific events.” That is the right way to read every love timing signal.
Profection Years: Your 5th- and 7th-House Years
Annual profections are a Hellenistic technique that gives each year of life a house of the chart. No soulmate calculator we found uses them, and they explain much of the folklore about marrying at 30.
How annual profections count
In Chris Brennan’s words, “you count one sign per year from the rising sign”, in whole signs, changing on your birthday. The ruler of that year’s sign is the lord of the year.
A profection year never makes a window here. It raises the love signals inside a 5th-house year by 1.2 times and inside a 7th-house year by 1.25 times, because astrologers read transits as stronger when they touch the year’s theme.
The ages
5th-house years
Ages 4, 16, 28, 40, 52 and 64: the house of romance.
7th-house years
Ages 6, 18, 30, 42, 54 and 66: the house of partners. On 18 October 2026, 19.3% of the 600 charts were in a 5th- or 7th-house year.
The age-30 problem
Everyone’s 7th-house year falls at 30, and the US median age at first marriage in 2025 was 30.8 for men and 28.4 for women. The Saturn return falls at 29 to 30 as well.
So a story about marrying in a 7th-house year says as much about age as about astrology, which is why the profection year only scales other signals.
Venus Return, Venus Retrograde and Neptune
Three Venus-related signals appear on the calculator, and only one of them is scored.
The Venus return: once a year
Venus comes back to its birth degree about once a year, and all 600 charts have a Venus return in the next 36 months. With a weight of 1 it only matters when something stronger falls in the same month.
Venus retrograde: review more than start
Venus is retrograde from 3 October to 14 November 2026 and again from 10 May to 22 June 2028. Tradition reads these weeks as better for reconnecting than starting, and Cafe Astrology adds that relationships begun under them can still last.
The calculator marks those weeks and takes nothing away from a soulmate window. The Venus retrograde page shows what the current cycle crosses in your chart.
Neptune on Venus: the idealising months
Neptune reaching Venus is read as tender and romantic, with a warning that it is easy to see what you want to see. Only 4.2% of charts meet it in the next three years, and it is listed but not scored.
How Many Soulmate Windows Does a Person Get?
We ran the calculator on 600 random charts, born between 1960 and 2004 in eight cities, and read the next 36 months from 18 October 2026. These are the numbers any soulmate timing tool should give first.
About three in three years
The median person has 3 soulmate windows in the next 36 months, and most people have between 1 and 5. Only 2.8% have none, and about 9% of all months are window months.
How a window is scored
The weights
Each contact peaks in one month and carries a weight from the table below; a month’s score is the sum of its contacts.
| Contact | Weight | Lane |
|---|---|---|
| Jupiter conjunct Venus, Jupiter reaching the Descendant | 5 | Meeting |
| Saturn on the Descendant, Venus or 7th-house ruler | 4 | Commitment |
| Progressed Moon reaching Venus or the Descendant | 4 | Meeting |
| Jupiter trine or sextile Venus, Jupiter entering the 5th house | 3 | Meeting |
| Jupiter to the 5th-house ruler | 3 | Meeting |
| Jupiter to the 7th-house ruler | 3 | Commitment |
| Uranus on Venus or the Descendant | 3 | Meeting (sudden) |
| Eclipse within 3° of Venus, the Ascendant or the Descendant | 3 | Meeting |
| Jupiter square or opposite Venus, progressed Moon entering the 5th | 2 | Meeting |
| Venus return | 1 | Meeting |
| 5th- or 7th-house profection year | ×1.2 / ×1.25 | Both |
Two families or one major contact
A month is a soulmate window when its score reaches 4 and the signals come from at least two families (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, eclipses, the progressed Moon, the Venus return, a profection year), or when one contact weighs 4 or more on its own.
One planet, two points
When one planet touches two natal points that sit together, the second contact in that month counts half. Jamie’s Venus and Mars are a degree apart, so one pass of Jupiter reaches both: one event, read twice.
Strong windows are rare
A window whose best month scores 7 or more is a strong one: 15.1% of windows. Any signal at all lights 31.8% of months, which is why one signal never makes a love timing window.
The quiet between windows
The median wait for the next soulmate window is 9 months, and 62.5% of people have one within a year. The quiet stretch between two windows has a median of 4 months: quiet months are ordinary.
Does Your Sun Sign or Age Decide When You Meet Your Soulmate?
Two of the most shared answers to “when will I meet my soulmate” are a table of ages by sun sign and age-based warnings. Both can be checked against real charts.
The sign-age tables have no source
One table, copied across English, Spanish, German and French sites, gives each sun sign a soulmate age, from 17 for Scorpio to 28 for Sagittarius, and tells Virgo it may never happen. None of the copies cites anything.
Windows by age
The average number of soulmate windows in the next 36 months is 3.02 for people in their 20s, 3.07 in their 30s, 2.96 in their 40s, 2.82 in their 50s and 2.81 in their 60s. Nothing in a chart closes at 30.
Windows by Sun sign
By sun sign the average runs from 2.39 for Capricorn to 3.43 for Libra, and Virgo sits at 2.98, almost exactly the overall mean of 2.94.
Why some signs get more windows in 2026–29
Jupiter spends these three years in Leo, Virgo and Libra, close to the Venus of many people born with the Sun from Cancer to Libra. In the next three years the advantage moves on: a sign does not have a soulmate age, the sky has seasons.
Same Sun sign, different timing
Two people with the same sun sign share 6% of their window months, and two people of different signs 5%. Your soulmate timing belongs to your whole chart.
Birth Time and Your Love Timing
Most of the signals above depend on where the horizon was when you were born. Without a birth time the calculator says so, and reads only what still holds.
What still works without a birth time
Contacts to Venus do: Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus reaching it, eclipses on it and the Venus return. Venus moves at most about 1.26° a day, so taking it at noon shifts its dates by a week or so.
What needs the time
Houses and the Descendant
The Descendant, the 5th-house cusp and both house rulers come from the time and place of birth.
The progressed Moon
Without a time the Moon itself is uncertain by several degrees, so its progressed contacts are left out rather than guessed.
Profections
Profection years count from the rising sign; the rising sign calculator can narrow it down if you know roughly when you were born.
Fifteen minutes can move a window
Without a time only 27.7% of the window months remain, the median drops from 3 soulmate windows to 1, and 42.3% of charts have none. A birth time 15 minutes off moves 27.8% of window months.
How to Use a Soulmate Window Well
A window is a prompt to act. Whatever a month means in your chart, it can only help if you spend some of it where new people are.
In a meeting window
Say yes more often
Accept the invitations you would usually decline; a Jupiter contact lasts a couple of weeks.
Change the room
Rosenfeld and colleagues found that about 39% of heterosexual couples who met in 2017 met online, and about 65% of same-sex couples. A window is a good moment to try a new place.
Tell people you are looking
Saying out loud that you are open to meeting someone costs nothing and widens the circle.
In a commitment window
Say what you want
Saturn rewards clarity: say what you want, to yourself first.
Have the conversation
If you are seeing someone, talk about where it is going. Once you are together, the progressed composite dates the relationship’s chapters and the synastry chart compares your two charts.
In a sudden or test month
Enjoy a Uranus surprise and wait before deciding what it is. A Saturn test month is a good time to be honest about what you will not accept.
Check it against your past twelve months
64.7% of people had a soulmate window in the past twelve months, and the calculator shows yours in grey. Compare it with what happened before deciding how much weight to give the months ahead; the AI synastry reading takes a question about a particular person once there is one.
What the Evidence Says About Love Timing
Before trusting any soulmate timing tool, including this one, it is worth knowing what has and has not been tested.
No study has tested it
We found no controlled study of whether transits or progressions predict when people meet a partner or marry. Cafe Astrology’s own tutorial on predicting love says it “isn’t likely that there is a ‘formula’” for it.
What has been tested
Couples and Sun signs
Gunter Sachs’s study of 358,763 Swiss marriages claimed sign effects, but Geoffrey Dean’s re-analysis found 38 significant results where chance alone predicted 37.4. It tested who marries whom, not when.
Transits and life events
Tests of transits against elections, deaths and workplace accidents have been negative or failed to replicate. In Carlson’s double-blind study in Nature (1985), natal astrology did no better than chance.
Why this page still shows the arithmetic
Many people use astrology for reflection, and this calculator adds honesty about the method: every contact is dated, every weight published and every base rate measured, so you can check its love timing rather than take it on trust.
Soulmate Astrology Beyond Timing
Several points are linked with soulmates in astrology. They describe connection more than timing, and here is why they are not scored.
The Vertex
The Vertex is often linked with sudden, significant encounters, and it moves fast: a birth time ten minutes off can shift it by about 7.6°. The Vertex calculator shows how sensitive yours is.
Juno
Juno, the asteroid of commitment, says much about what you want from a partner, but we found no written method for timing with its transits. The Juno calculator reads it by sign and house.
The North Node
The lunar nodes are here in one form: eclipses happen near them, and eclipses on Venus or the angles are scored. The North Node calculator reads the node itself.
Vedic marriage prediction is a different system
Vedic calculators use the sidereal zodiac, where planets sit almost a whole sign earlier, and planetary periods called dashas. Their dates differ because the rules differ, not because one side miscalculated.
Soulmate Timing Myths
“Every sign meets their soulmate at a set age”
The tables have no source: the number of soulmate windows changes by year, not by sign, and Virgo is right on the mean.
“There is a deadline in your chart”
People in their 60s have 2.81 windows in the next three years and people in their 20s 3.02. A chart has no deadline.
“Jupiter in your 7th house is all you need”
Only 13.0% of charts have Jupiter reach the Descendant in these three years, and it is one soulmate timing signal among several.
“Venus retrograde ruins a new relationship”
Tradition advises reviewing more than starting, and allows that relationships begun then can last.
“A quiz can tell you the date”
A quiz that gives an exact date and calls itself “just for fun” tells you both things at once. Love timing in astrology works in months, from your chart, with its reasons on show.
Soulmate Timing FAQ
›When will I meet my soulmate, according to astrology?
Astrology cannot give you a date or point to a person. What it can show is the months when the classic signals in your own chart line up: Jupiter, Saturn or Uranus reaching your Venus or your Descendant, an eclipse on those points, or the progressed Moon arriving there. This calculator lists those months for the next three years, with the reason behind each one.
›What is a love timing window?
A month when two independent signals in your chart peak together, or one major one stands on its own, such as Jupiter conjunct your Venus or Saturn on your Descendant. Neighbouring window months join into one soulmate window, which leans towards meeting someone, towards commitment, or both.
›Which transits show meeting a partner?
The ones astrologers read as openings are Jupiter reaching your Venus, your Descendant or your 5th-house ruler, an eclipse on Venus or the Ascendant–Descendant axis, the progressed Moon reaching Venus or the Descendant, and Uranus on Venus, which is read as sudden and unsettled. Saturn reaching your Descendant, Venus or 7th-house ruler is read as commitment rather than meeting.
›What does Jupiter in my 7th house mean for meeting someone?
Jupiter crossing your Descendant into the 7th house is one of the classic soulmate timing signals, and it comes about once every twelve years: across 600 charts, 13.0% meet it in the next three years. Astrologers say it does not create a relationship on its own; the calculator shows what else falls in the same months.
›How many love timing windows does a person usually have?
Across 600 random charts, the median is 3 soulmate windows in 36 months, and most people have between 1 and 5; 2.8% have none. About 9% of months are window months, and the quiet between two windows has a median of 4 months.
›I am over 30 and still single. Is something wrong with my chart?
No. The number of soulmate windows hardly changes with age: 3.02 in the next three years for people in their 20s, 3.07 in their 30s, 2.96 in their 40s, 2.82 in their 50s and 2.81 in their 60s. A birth chart has no deadline.
›Do I need my exact birth time?
For the full picture, yes: the houses, the Descendant, the house rulers, the progressed Moon and profections all depend on it. Without a time the calculator still reads the contacts to your Venus, but only 27.7% of the window months remain, and a time 15 minutes off moves 27.8% of them.
›Is Venus retrograde a bad time to start a relationship?
The traditional reading is that Venus retrograde suits reviewing and reconnecting more than starting, and Cafe Astrology adds that relationships begun under it can still last. This calculator marks the retrograde weeks but takes nothing away from a window.
›What if my window passes and nothing happens?
A soulmate window is a prompt to act, not a delivery. 64.7% of people had a window in the past twelve months, so check yours against what happened. The median wait for the next window is 9 months, and 62.5% of people have one within a year.
›Why are my dates different from a Vedic marriage calculator?
They come from two different systems. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, where planets sit almost a whole sign earlier, and planetary periods called dashas; this soulmate timing calculator uses the tropical zodiac, Placidus houses, transits and progressions. Different dates mean different rules, not an arithmetic mistake.
